Jasmine sets an all-time British Swimming Record
Year 9 student, Jasmine D’Cunha competed recently in both the British and the english Swimming
Championships, where she smashed her personal best time in 50m Breaststroke to get to the final. Jasmine’s
time in the 50m Breaststroke not only currently ranks her No 1 in great Britain for her own age group, but her
race time gave her the ‘all time British record’ for a 12 year old in this event.
Jasmine said, “I didn’t like swimming when I was younger; it was only when my sister persuaded me to join her
swimming club that I began to enjoy it. Although it is hard work, I really enjoy the time spent with my friends.
I’m very happy and proud of my achievements and I really hope to qualify for all three events in the British
Nationals next summer.”
Jasmine has now also qualified for the 50m Breaststroke at the British National Championships in April 2020 at
the london Aquatic Pool. This meet doubles up as the olympic trials too. Congratulations Jasmine, and all the
very best in your olympic trials. Ambition

Sisters in National Dance Finals
Student lucy Barnfield in Year 11, and her sister, Chloe, in Year 9, took first place in the latin final
competition in the Southern Supadance league.
They had also entered the final stage of the Team league just one point ahead of their 2nd
place rivals. earlier in the year, they lost one of their dance couples, but thankfully some younger
members of the Dance School completed the team. one of those dancers is Year 7 student,
Rosemary goodwin. It has been her first year of competitions and already she is making a name
for herself. Thanks to her and her partner, they managed to secure enough points to hold onto
first position and bring the trophy home!
lucy and Chloe currently train at least four days a week. When they aren't training they are
helping teach in both adult and children's classes. Chloe is also very involved in Dance at the
College, which she loves. Ambition
