online Musical Masterpiece

Ivybridge Community College and Ivybridge Music Centre are
delighted to present their online orchestra musical collaboration.
The online orchestra started during the first lockdown and
includes students from Years 7 to 13 and Years 5 and 6 from our
                                                   partner primary schools.
Ivybridge Music Centre is grateful for funding from Devon Music
education hub, without which this project would not have been
possible.  Please visit the College website to view the wonderful
performance of Rondeau from Abdelazer, by henry Purcell.
After the huge success of the online orchestra, the College has
now started to rehearse its Big Band online too.
The Music Department can’t wait for both bands to be able to rehearse for real, in person, once conditions
          allow.  In addition to these music ensembles, the College also has other groups that are now rehearsing online;
Musical Theatre group, Spotlight Theatre Company, Technical Theatre group and Dance Company.
"A wonderful and uplifting piece of orchestral music professionally delivered and demonstrating the strength of
students and staff to continue to learn and perform virtually, in spite of lockdown measures.  We are immensely
proud of your continued diligence and passion for the arts." Amy Pearce, Assistant Principal.

         Virtual Singing Competition Winners

The College’s Performing Arts Department hosted two music competitions
          over the autumn term.
The competitions gave students the opportunity to show off their vocal range
by recording songs at home in two categories; A Performance of Your Choice
and once in Royal David's City, and then sending them in to be judged by the
Performing Arts Department’s panel of experts.
Year 7 student, lilah, took the top spot with her
version of on My own from les Miserables.
Year 9 students, Naomi and Iris, took second
                                      and third places respectively.
The performances in the once in Royal David’s
City category were so good that the judges
named two winners, Toby in Year 8 and Anna-Mae in Year 7.
All three winning performers, lilah, Toby and Anna, won the chance to record
their songs in the College’s recording studio, perform their song on stage and
have it filmed. All three final winning performances were shown in the
Principal’s end-of-term festive briefing to staff and can be viewed on the
