BTEC 15
Snowdonia Adventure for Public Services students
Year 12 BTEC Public Services students have recently been on an epic multi day
expedition to the mountains of Snowdonia. This formed part of their Leadership
and Outdoor Adventurous Activities units and the students were responsible for the
planning of the whole trip. The one thing they didn’t plan for was the number of
midges!
The students were pushed to their limits, with two long days of hill walking and
climbing. Highlights included a climb up Tryfan, where Connor Bracher gallantly
stepped over the Adam and Eve rocks and the completion of Crib Goch on the
way to the top of Snowdonia. Marcus Coffey’s legs are still shaking from the
experience.
Overall, this trip has been an invaluable experience for the students and will serve
them well in the future.
Jarrad Waldron, Head of Year 10,
accompanied the students and said, “I
was proud to watch them develop into
excellent leaders and show real grit in
confronting challenging situations. A big
thank you must go to Gavin Kelly from
Ibex Outdoor. He made the trip a truly
memorable experience.”
