Modern Foreign Language 19
Celebrating european Week of languages
Primary Workshop
on Tuesday, 24 September the College’s Year 8 language leaders
welcomed primary school pupils for a ‘european Day of languages’
French and Spanish workshop. The fourteen Years 5 and 6 primary
children enjoyed building eiffel Towers from marshmallows (guimauves)
and spaghetti. They also learnt to count and play bingo, words for food
and drink and then created some exciting imaginative spirit animals,
traditional ‘alebrijes’, from Mexico. A great morning was had by all
celebrating language learning and having fun.
MFl Bake off
later in the week the MFl Department was astonished to see so many
awesome show-stoppers appear ready to be judged and eaten to
celebrate our european Week of languages. From erupting volcanoes
to intricate flags and traditional greek cakes we were treated to
goodies from around the globe. It was a tough decision that had to be
made by our Sixth Form students and Year 8 language leader judges,
but they finally all agreed that the best in show was a traditional Spanish
casa made by Izzy in Year 10. Well done Izzy and thank you to all the
star bakers. See you next year!
