Success for Students in the UKMt team Challenge
On Thursday, 8 November Sixth Form students Adam Vosper and
Courtney Ormrod in Year 12, and Holly Gearon and Olivia Wiseman in
Year13, accompanied by Mr Mitchell, represented the College at the
UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Senior Team Challenge, held at
a local Plymouth school.
the UKMt team Challenges promote mathematical dexterity, teamwork
and communication skills. they also give students the opportunity to
compete against students from other schools and colleges in the region.
there were four rounds, and at the end of the competition our students
achieved third place, out of fifteen. Congratulations to all who took part
in a really successful competition.
Duke of edinburgh success at the College
We are delighted that the Duke of Edinburgh success at Ivybridge Community
College was acknowledged at the Managers’ Day attended recently by
Mr Mitchell. he received a certificate on behalf of all the participants showing
that 1027 hours had been spent on their skill section, 871 hours on a physical
activity and 1053 hours volunteering with the social value of those hours
amounting to £4264.65.
the Duke of edinburgh Scheme at the College has a huge success rate, and
with the introduction of an Approved Activity Provider for expedition
requirements, we are hoping for an even higher completion rate in the future.
