the World Class Schools Quality
Mark Assessment 2018
On Thursday, 1 November 2018, a number of our World Class students attended
as either Shadow Assessors or Lead Assessors for the World Class Schools Quality
Mark Assessment Centre, held at Riverbank Academy, in Coventry.
there were eight projects which involved the re-designing of the 16+ hub for students of 16-19 at the Academy.
each of the five assessors had to assess three students against the World Class Schools Quality Mark
competencies – including any pre-planning, liaising with other students and the host school.
Ben Conroy, in Year 13, who is a qualified Assessor, acted as a lead Assessor, having strategic oversight for the
whole project, as well as supporting the Shadow Assessors. Peter Bull and Millie Davies in Year 13, together with
Izzy Underdown and lucy Ryder, in Year 11, were Shadow Assessors. they had oversight of three students each
involved in designing, developing and project managing the front entrance to the 16+ hub.
Our students benefitted greatly, as they hopefully will become lead Assessors themselves and part of the World
Class Schools Alumni. In addition they develop their own personal and intrapersonal skills, as well as the
opportunity to lead or work in collaboration with other World Class Schools across the country.
head Boy and head girl Appointments Celebrated
We are delighted to announce the very first Head Boy and Head Girl for each Year group. the students went
through a rigorous selection process which involved writing a detailed letter of application outlining why they
wanted to be a head Boy or girl and what qualities they had to ensure they would lead their own Year group
successfully. the students will be working closely with their heads of Years and Mrs Shore, Associate leader, to
develop student voice in the College with a main focus on teaching and learning, facilities in the College,
praise and Student Well-being.
the interview panel consisted of Rachel hutchinson, Principal, Mike Saltern, Chair of governors’, members of
the Senior leadership team and the heads of Years. Students were asked to do a three minute presentation
on someone who had inspired them, followed by answering three questions from the panel.
the interview panel was overwhelmed with the high standard and quality of their presentations, which made
the selection process a difficult task. the following students were selected:
•gemma Bennett and Jack Norton - Year 7
•Darcy Feeney and Ciaran Ricketts - Year 8
•Naomi gath and george hughes - Year 9
•Shannon Ormrod and Morven Vincent - Year 10
•Anna Wilson and tom grills - Year 11
•Olivia Bull and Jacob Atkins - Year 12
•Katie Sherrell and Peter Bull - Year 13
