gymnasts’ Success at huge Invitational Competition
Ivybridge Community College Gymnasts brought home top honours from the UK’s biggest
intermediate-level Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition, the
Honiton Invitational.
the excellent results, which included two gold medal
winning performances, proved that the College’s gymnasts
can compete head-to-head with the best clubs in the
country as well as the best schools.
gold medals were won by Novice level 3 girls’ Pair
Megan Wark and Abbie endean, and Novice level 2 girls’
Pair Molly hughes and Ruby Macgregor.
the huge competition included 600 gymnasts from 17 clubs
from across the UK. there were more than 30 partnerships in
some categories.
In addition to the gold medals, euan tuckwell and
Blythe lodge-Pace took Silver in Novice level 1 Pairs,
Molly hughes and Ruby Macgregor took Silver in level 2
girls’ Pairs, Megan Sams
and Amelia lucas took
Bronze in Novice level 3
girls’ Pairs, and
Jessica Rouse and
Reece Parkin took Silver in grade 4 Mixed Pairs.
“55 Ivybridge Community College Gymnasts
took part in this annual event,” said helen Reddy,
head of Performing Arts, “all making the most of
the opportunity to excel in front of an audience
and judges. It was a wonderful achievement for
everyone involved, putting all Ivybridge
Community College gymnasts in a strong
position to further improve their performances
when they compete again at the regional
schools prelims in March.”
